4 former Sixers that need to return: Tyler Johnson
It was a short stint, but there were definitely positives about having Tyler Johnson on the Philadelphia 76ers this season. It was a shame the franchise didn’t sign him beyond his initial 10-day contract, but there’s a chance to fix that mistake.
Before signing with the San Antonio Spurs on a 10-day deal, Johnson played three games with the Sixers. In those games with the 76ers, he averaged 3.7 points and 0.7 assists, while making 42.9 percent of his 3-pointers.
Johnson was primarily used as a 3-and-D combo guard in Philly and if re-signed by the 76ers, he’d be used in a similar role. This would work extremely well with the recent addition of James Harden who makes those types of players thrive especially well.
Johnson was a teammate of Harden’s last season on the Brooklyn Nets where Johnson averaged 5.4 points on 36.4 percent from downtown. It’s clear the two have a level of chemistry, which would help Harden’s adjustment to this new roster.
