3 Sixers players who can step up in Curry’s place: Georges Niang

That leaves nonother than “The Van” himself, Georges Niang. Yes, Niang is a reserve and is arguably is the Sixers’ sixth man right now. Niang’s playstyle is less than appealing due to his frame and lack of a quick first step, but he’s arguably the 76ers best high-volume 3-point shooter.

Outside of a small sample size from Harden and the showing from former Sixer Curry, Niang has the third-highest 3-point attempts per game at 5.0 per game. He’s also fifth this season for Philly in 3-point percentage at 39.7 percent only trailing Harden, Johnson, Maxey, and Curry this season. With Johnson and Curry not on the roster anymore, he’s really the third-best shooter on this team.

In the four-game sample size with Harden, Niang has thrived. He’s shot 10-20 from deep and averaged 8.0 points per game. Granted his points per game average is slightly down, but his 3-point percentage is at 50.0 percent which is very impressive.

If Niang can increase his attempts per game and keep his percentage about at his season average he’s the best bet to replace Curry’s floor spacing for the rest of this year and going into the playoffs.

Any three of the players on this list could take over Curry’s role for the Sixers, but Niang is the most likely to do so this season.
