The podcast this week covers the most recent events related to the Sixers. Although we could not celebrate a victory from the nationally televised game versus the Nuggets on Monday night, Sixers fans celebrated Joel Embiid‘s 28th birthday on social media. Before we shine a light on Embiid’s special day, we start things off with a win against the Cavs.

The Sixers went into Cleveland after a loss at home to the Nuggets, so they had an axe to grind. As the Cavs were without Jared Allen and Colin Sexton, the 76ers wasted no time to take advantage of a short-handed Cavs team. Like the previous game, Philly started hot. Then, the Cavs made a run and took a late lead. We discuss the starting unit’s production throughout the game and the Sixers’ bench deficiencies that remain an Achilles’ heel for Philadelphia.

After we wrap up that road win, we revisit the Denver game. The podcast goes right into the head-to-head matchup between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. We describe ways that Embiid distinguished himself from his MVP race competitor. We then analyze the game as a whole and what the team lacked that led to a loss.

The Sixers’ lack of depth has proven problematic. How can Doc Rivers solve the issue?

With 14 games left in the regular season, the Sixers have to tighten up some things on the court. Otherwise, it could be another disappointing, early elimination postseason. So, the podcast debates various aspects of improvement that must be addressed for the Sixers to have an extended playoff run. Priorities brought up include the bench, Harden’s role, and holding onto leads.

The final topic we discuss revolves around our favorite memories of the birthday boy, Joel Embiid, who turned 28 earlier this week. We share our non-basketball memories first. Then, we explore some Embiid highlights that are sure to bring back fond memories for Sixers fans.
