So, that leaves Jokic and Embiid. Fighting neck and neck for the trophy. In the voters’ eyes, Jokic has the upper hand thanks to their head-to-head matchup and what he has done over the second half of the season. Jokic was vaunted ahead after leading the Nuggets to a victory in Philadelphia on March 14th, 114-110.
That, along with marquee losses to the Bucks recently and the Nets have lessened Embiid’s resume for MVP, though he has been the most consistent player in the league this year. The win against the Cavs was a thunderous performance that reminded the league that the race isn’t over yet. Not by a long shot.

Sunday night, Joel Embiid saved his chances to become the first Sixers NBA MVP since Allen Iverson in 2001. In week where we saw one Philadelphia native lose credibility among the film industry, the last thing we needed as Sixers fans, is to see the best center in the game lose MVP votes due to a loss with the playoffs on the horizon.
Let’s be glad that this slap woke the voters up to see what we have known all year: Joel Embiid should be the NBA MVP and in the Philadelphia 76ers win against the Cavs, he not only saved it, he reaffirmed it.
