Now that the regular season is wrapped up, the Sixer Sense Podcast ventures into discussion related to the Sixers’ postseason. There are plenty of plots and subplots to unravel, but we begin the podcast on how the season ended with the win against the Pistons.

The Sixer Sense Podcast Episode 178

Christopher Kline could not join Lucas Johnson on this episode, but we had Justin DiVirgilio join us for our Sixers talk. We jump right into the victory that the 76ers earned on the last day of the regular season against Detroit, where both Joel Embiid and James Harden sat out. We sum up the other games that impacted the final Eastern Conference standings and what stood out in the actual game versus the Pistons.

The next topic we discuss revolves around the upcoming series in both conferences. We preview the play-in games in the east, where the Brooklyn Nets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks take on the Charlotte Hornets. Next, we look at the west and offer predictions on the matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs, along with the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers.

We pivot to the established series between the 4th and 5th seed and 3rd and 6th seeds, in both conferences, respectively. We discuss our outcome expectations between the Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz, as well as the Golden State Warriors and Denver Nuggets. Next, we break down how the Chicago Bulls will fare against the Milwaukee Bucks, and we deliver predictions about the Sixers and Raptors series.

We devote a good portion of the podcast discussing the regular season grades for each of the key Sixers players this year. Who earned an A and who was given an F based on their play this season? We also offer grades for Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey.

The last topic we cover revolves around the climactic ending to one of the tightest NBA MVP races in recent memory. We present our finals thoughts about Joel Embiid’s chance to win MVP, including who has been his most ardent supporter and which former Sixer great prefers Nikola Jokic over the hometown favorite.
