Rumors: Bulls interested in Sixers’ wing Matisse Thybulle
With the offseason upon the Philadelphia 76ers, the front office has to make some hard decisions regards certain personnel. One of the players is Matisse Thybulle, who is up for his rookie extension this offseason.
My fellow site expert Christopher Kline of The Sixer Sense recently wrote an article about the viability of trading Thybulle this season. Kline made a strong case for the Sixers to do so and now it appears that the rumor mill is starting to pick up momentum in that direction.
Sixers’ wing Thybulle is gaining the attention of another team in the NBA.
Sean Deveney of Heavy.com published an article with the following quote.
"“…one team with known interest, according to league sources, is Chicago. Bulls GM Marc Eversley has had a fondness for Thybulle going back to early in his collegiate career at Washington, and was instrumental in pushing the Sixers to acquire him in the 2019 draft.”"
The Chicago Bulls make sense on paper as a potential suitor for Thybulle. They are a team dedicated to elite perimeter defense and offensive woes he won’t be as much of a detriment due to their perimeter-oriented offense. Especially with the likes of Nikola Vucevic who is more of a stretch five on offense now that he’s in Chicago.
The Bulls do have some interesting players they could offer in return for the Sixers’ defensive ace. Players like Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, and potential Tony Bradley who has a player option for next season. Any of those three players would help upgrade the bench’s depth.
That being written, this is only a rumor and should be treated as such until it can be confirmed by other sources. However, it’s interesting that this has been published so soon after the team’s second round exit from the playoffs.
This could very well be the first of many rumors involving Thybulle this summer. If that’s the case, the Sixers should do their due diligence and consider a viable trade option for their wind defender when considering his future with them.
