MarJon Beauchamp, G-League Ignite

MarJon Beauchamp’s story is quite different from that of Jaden Hardy. He was less heralded coming into the G-League Ignite’s season, having bounced around from high school to high school before attending community college. It was a long, winding road to the NBA radar for Beauchamp, but now he’s there — and he could be on the Sixers’ radar at 23.

At 6-foot-6, Beauchamp has a 7-foot-1 wingspan and likes to hang his hat on defense. With excellent lateral quickness and instincts on the ball, Beauchamp can swallow guards at the point of attack. He fights over screens, frequently interrupts passing lanes, and has the strength to battle physical slashers. His consistent motor and I.Q. should intrigue a team like Philadelphia.

On offense, there are plenty of promising traits. Unlike Hardy, Beauchamp does not need to dominate the ball. He’s excellent at finding seams in the defense and cutting to the rim or traversing screens to get open. He accelerates quickly, and would thrive attacking off the catch next to Harden or working out of two-man actions with Embiid.

Beauchamp has excellent guard skills too. He’s unselfish and particularly adept to playing up-tempo, fast-break basketball. He needs to improve his 3-point stroke, but there are positive indicators. He has touch inside the arc and his all-around skill set should make him impactful in multiple facets of the game.
