It’s been easy to focus on the acquisition of De’Anthony Melton on draft night. However, the Philadelphia 76ers need to make sure we acknowledge what we lost which was the 23rd pick, but more importantly veteran Danny Green.

Green’s time in Philly was less than ideal and honestly, the veteran deserved more than the drama he had to deal with during his Sixers tenure. The Sixers have already shown their appreciation for Green.

With that in mind, a thank you letter is in order for the original 3-and-D wing from this site.

A thank you letter to Green from the fans of the Philadelphia 76ers.

You were a savior of sorts for the 76ers fan base as you was part of a deal that unloaded an overpaid Al Horford. You came into a weird situation as Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey were still establishing themselves as leaders of the organization.

Not to mention the weird dynamic between Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Yet, despite all that, you were one of the consistent leaders on the roster. That only got worse that the following postseason when you were dealt an injury against the Atlanta Hawks.

You handled the drama surrounding Simmons like a pro, but that wasn’t the most impressive thing you did this past season. You took in stride coming off the bench in the most amount of games since your third year as a pro.

Green, it was horrendous that you have to deal with the recovery of a torn ACL and LCL, especially this late in your career. Sixers fans were devastated when the injury occur and will be praying/hoping for a speedy recovery.

Green we wish you could have won your fourth NBA title and first with the Philadelphia 76ers, but everyone at The Sixer Sense wishes you well on the Memphis Grizzlies.
