3 floor-spacing bigs to pursue in free agency: Isaiah Hartenstein

The final option for this position is Isaiah Hartenstein. The most unlikely due to his budding and rising role in the Los Angeles Clippers rotation this past NBA season. For the sake of exploring the option, Hartenstein would fit in with the Sixers.

The German 7-footer is a skilled left-handed player. Hartenstein possesses touch around the rim on the roll and on his jump shot. Despite my claim, the former G-leaguer has not had the opportunity to let long-range jump shots fly. The center took less than one three-pointer per game last year with the Clippers.

Hartenstein showed the ability to hit them when he did take them. The shooting motion is fluid, not the quickest but he’s seven feet so he has that advantage. The confidence is there. That comes across on the highlight tape.

In the G-League, Hartenstein was able to showcase the swing skill that is shooting for his team. As a member of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Hartenstein took 6.4 three-pointers per game and made 44.1 percent of them.

Another footnote to tuck in your memory bank is that the Rio Grande Valley Vipers is the G-League affiliate of the Houston Rockets. It is an assumption but Daryl Morey is most likely familiar with Hartenstein’s resume and potential. The Sixers could pitch to Hartenstein that he could be the bench version of who he was in the G-League to offset the Clippers’ pitch to the center.

As stated in my intro, three-pointing shooting is a necessity and having one big man that can let it fly to open the paint. One of the three options above would certainly be helpful for the Philadelphia 76ers.
