Philadelphia 76ers: Daryl Morey’s small mistakes cannot repeat:  Playing up the De’Andre Jordan signing publicly

Daryl Morey is a pretty plugged-in front office executive so it was not surprising that Morey has appeared on the Rights to Ricky Sanchez Podcast not once but twice. The second appearance came with Morey in his current role with the team and a handful of days after the NBA trade deadline.

On the podcast, Morey proclaims that a backup center buyout signing was imminent. At the time, it was not known who it was. The one thing that infuriated me and other Sixers supporters was that the signing was De’Andre Jordan. In hindsight, Morey played up the signing of backup center De’Andre Jordan.

This is a small mistake but still a mistake. Throughout Jordan’s time, you could tell that the guy did not have his athleticism anymore. No longer was the man who could elevate as if he was off a pogo stick. No longer was the guy who could recover to protect the rim using the jumping ability just mentioned. Playing body language doctor, Morey does not seem sold on it in the video version of the podcast.
