For the truly hardcore Philadephia 76ers fans out there, like myself, every offseason is a series of different events that combine to create hope for the upcoming season. The NBA draft, free agency, numerous trades (and the overhyping of potential trades that rarely happen), and the pre-season are all wonderful times for teams and fans.

They can put on their rose-colored glasses and hope that maybe this is the year that it all comes together. Who knows, maybe our hometown team walks away with the crown.

One enjoyable activity that is smack dab in the middle of all of that is the NBA Summer League, and this year it kicks off on Tuesday, July 5th in Utah for three games in three days before jumping to Las Vegas for another four games.

Some years there is not much to watch, and the basketball that is played in Summer League is obviously a step down from true professional basketball. It’s more like a series of pickup games with college stars and young players being put in various situations to see how they respond. This is designed so that the NBA can see which of these young talents might actually have a future with the big boys. This year, for our Summer Sixers, is different.

Sixers Summer League roster and which players to watch out for.

This group of young players that our Sixers are trotting out is loaded with skill and potential. It will be a surprise if half of this team is not playing in the NBA or G-League somewhere next season, if not here, then elsewhere. Many are predicting that this relatively loaded group should win most of their games this summer and are excited to see what they can do in this summer showcase. Let’s talk about who you should be most excited to see and a few names for you to keep a closer eye on.
