Sixers: Best and worst of Summer League game against Grizzlies
The Bad
Julian Champagnie: 0 PTS | 2 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PF | 0-5 FGs | 0-2 3Ps | 0-0 FTs | 9 MIN
When the Sixers signed Julian Champagnie to a two-way contract, I was very excited about his potential, but in this first game of the Summer League, his production disappointed. He appeared to be moving a step slower. He has the size and skill to make a bigger impact than what he did and he needs to do more moving forward.
Michael Foster Jr.: 5 PTS | 3 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PF | 2-6 FGs | 1-1 3Ps | 0-0 FTs | 14 MIN
The former G-League Ignite player had his moments, but overall it felt like Michael Foster Jr. struggled to make an impact. However, being just 19 years old, it’s understandable that he struggled in his summer league debut. Moving forward, the 76ers need more from him on both ends.
Charles Bassey: 7 PTS | 6 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 3 PF | 2-7 FGs | 0-1 3Ps | 3-3 FTs | 20 MIN
Defensively, Charles Bassey had a solid game. However, there were too many times he failed to convert easy shots on offense and the ball would bounce off his hands on either side of the court. If he gets better control of the ball, he should be fine moving forward.
Jaden Springer: 15 PTS | 3 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 3 TO | 3 PF | 4-12 FGs | 0-2 3Ps | 7-10 FTs | 28 MIN
Having Jaden Springer on this “The Bad” list was a tough decision. On one hand, he was excellent defensively. Just take a look at this defensive play of the game. On the other hand, the one thing that Philly needed to see from Springer was improved shooting and he failed to do so from the field.
