This Sixer Sense Podcast episode takes you into the mind of the Sixers’ president of basketball operations Daryl Morey. We also offer a list of free agents who could be signed if the Philadelphia 76ers seek insurance going into the next season. We also have some fun, looking at some would-be trades that never happened but could have changed the NBA landscape. We then finish things off with a conversation about what a 1-on-1 tournament of stars would look like.
The Sixer Sense Podcast: Episode 204
We begin with the latest remarks and a post made by Daryl Morey. If you have not heard, James Harden officially signed his contract with the Sixers recently. As a result, the team’s president had some comments about the latest signing. We revisit the high regard for Harden and predict whether or not the All-Star point guard will end his career in Philly.
We then dive into Morey’s Instagram post via Zach Ciavolella of Philly Sports network that focuses on Matisse Thybulle. The post insinuates the idea that Thybulle may have a break-out season, which some people believe to be far from reality. We discuss what we think Morey truly feels and if the IG post has any merit in regards to Thybulle staying in a Sixers uniform.
The next topic revolves around free agents still on the market. Although roster space is slim on the Sixers, we take a peek into the possibility that Philly could add one more veteran on a minimum contract. Of the players left, who do we think should be an option to sign before the season starts? Do we think DeMarcus Cousins or Dwight Howard should be a backup center option? How about Rajon Rondo or Dennis Schroeder as point guard insurance?
The final topic the podcast brings up is the idea of a unique tournament during All-Star weekend. What would a 1-on-1 tournament look like if every All-Star participated? Who would we love to see go head-to-head on the court? LeBron James versus Kevin Durant? Chris Paul versus Luka Doncic? How about James Harden versus Steph Curry? Listen to find out!
