Recently the Philadelphia 76ers released their preseason schedule and it should get fans of the franchise very excited for the preseason. Below is the full schedule of the preseason but pay close attention to the first game.
That’s right, the Sixers will be facing the Brooklyn Nets. Not only the Nets, but they will be facing the Cleveland Cavaliers twice and they finish the preseason against the Charlotte Hornets. One of these matchups is particularly interesting but all provide good value for fans.
Preseason games for Philadelphia 76ers fans to bookmark.
For anyone who followed the club last year knows that Ben Simmons was so disgruntled with how the playoffs ended the year before that he forced his way out of Philly. As a result, the Sixers landed James Harden and Simmons was sent to Brooklyn.
In the lone matchup after the trade, the Nets demolished the 76ers without Simmons in Philly. Kyrie Irving shut down James Harden and Brooklyn won 129-100. Since then the Nets have fallen into shambles.
They were swept out of the first round by the Eastern Conference Champions Boston Celtics and both of their stars’ futures don’t seem to lie with the franchise. Whether the duo of Kevin Durant and Irving are traded by then or not does add to the level of interest in the preseason matchup due to how things ended with Harden.
However, potentially playing against Simmons is a real treat for the Philly fans. Hopefully, it’s the first of many Hack-a-Ben instances in future matchups. Also if the star duo does remain in Brooklyn, then they are bound to be a playoff team which should help gauge the level of talent the Sixers have.
The Cavaliers are also an interesting matchup. They were an up-and-coming team last year and it will be interesting how much better they will get. It will also be interesting how they handle Embiid as they are one of the few teams who have the size in the front court to bother the MVP runner-up.
With the potential losses of Montrezl Harrell and Mile Bridges due to legal issues, it will be interesting to see if this young Hornets team survives without two key players and with the change at head coach.
The most important game of the preseason is the first one against the Brooklyn Nets. However, the Philadelphia 76ers preseason as a whole can provide entertainment for their fans.
