One can argue that the Boston Celtics have been the biggest obstacle for Embiid during his career. The Sixers haven’t beaten the Celtics in playoffs since Embiid made his NBA debut. What makes matters even worse is that the Celtics are arguably going to be one of the best defenses in the NBA yet again.

Remember at the beginning of this article when I wrote about players who gave Embiid problems? Well, the Celtics have one in Al Horford. Granted the former Sixers big man isn’t in his prime and can’t do quite the same job. However, last season proved that the duo of Horford and Robert Williams is elite defensively.

There’s a real argument that can be made that the reason why Celtics guard Marcus Smart won Defensive Player of the Year was because of injuries to Williams. Williams is an elite defender in this league and with his pairing with Horford, the Celtics have become a team that can cause Embiid problems.
