3 rebuilding teams who could be Sixers trade partners: Oklahoma City Thunder

If the Oklahoma City Thunder’s second overall pick Chet Holmgren didn’t injure himself during the summer, then the franchise might be trying to push its way out of rebuilding. However, with him set to miss the whole season, they are certainly set to continue to rebuild/tank yet again this year.

Don’t get it twisted, the Thunder have an impressive young core. It’s centered around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, and Holmgren. They also have other key role players in Luguentz Dort, Tre Mann, Aleksej Pokusevski, Jalen Williams, Jaylin Williams, and Ousmane Dieng.

This team is set to be good in the next couple of years, but not this season. It makes sense to play the young guys as much as possible. Especially with a chance for a top pick in a loaded 2023 draft. With another year of development and a potential top pick, the Thunder don’t have much use for veterans like Mike Muscala, Derrick Favors, and Kenrich Williams.

Trading for former Sixers’ stretch big man Muscala would easy enough for Philly. Favors is a solid backup center, but his salary would be difficult to match. Williams is a good 3-and-D forward and has a tradeable contract, but how much would it cost to pull him away
