The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to follow up a thrilling overtime win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday with another victory on Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets.

James Harden looked like his old self on Friday night, scoring nine of the Sixers’ 13 points in overtime to seal the win. He wasn’t the only Sixer that went off, as Joel Embiid and De’Anthony Melton both scored 30+ points in the win.

Philly is slowly moving up the Eastern Conference standings, but it did have a disappointing loss to the Houston Rockets in Harden’s first game back from a foot injury.

The Hornets have lost four straight games, and they’ve easily been one of the worst teams in the NBA record wise this season. However, Charlotte is 5-4-1 against the spread as a road dog this season.

Does that put the Sixers’ chances of covering as major favorites in jeopardy?

Hornets vs. Sixers Prediction and Pick

Philly is a rightful favorite in this game, but this may be a few too many points to give the Hornets, who have kept recent games with the Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers within this number.

The season-long numbers for Charlotte are ugly, but the Sixers don’t exactly have the offensive attack at the moment that will lead to an automatic blowout.

Philly is 18th in the NBA in offensive rating and 27th in pace, meaning that it’s going to slow this game down as much as possible.

That could be a good sign for the Hornets, as they are dead last in the league in offensive rating this season. A high-scoring game doesn’t benefit Charlotte in any way.

The Sixers are a far better team, but they have gone just 4-4-1 against the spread as home favorites, winning those games by an average margin of 2.7 points.

Philly has only been favored by double digits twice this season, covering in one of those games.

I think the Sixers win, but the Hornets can cover this number as well.
