The former No. 1 pick has been unable to establish any sort of prolonged rhythm in the NBA, almost entirely due to injuries. Even so, the flashes are undeniable. He’s a wing with a point guard’s intellect and creativity. At his best, very few players can match Cunningham’s shot-making and court vision.
Franz Wagner has quietly established himself as a centerpiece of Orlando’s rebuild. He checks so many boxes across the board: versatility in every respect, from his role offensively to his position defensively. He can space the floor, handle the ball in pick-and-rolls, and do just about everything in between. His ability to fit any personnel group has been key to the lanky, persistently outside-the-box Magic rotation.
He’s making the leap. Devin Vassell has always been able to terrorize passing lanes and supply positional versatility on defense, but now he’s a potent iso scorer who’s handling more and more offensive responsibilities for the rebuilding Spurs. He is the foundation upon which San Antonio’s next phase is being built.
When he’s healthy, Robert Williams is one of the best shot-blockers in the sport — as well as a viable switch defender with elite closeout speed and impressive lateral quickness. On offense, he can finish everything within arm’s reach of the rim and he’s a vastly underrated passer who helps keep Boston’s offense in motion.
At long last healthy enough to make “the jump,” OG Anunoby is an early frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year and an absolute terror attacking weaker wings in isolation. He can space the floor and play within the flow of the offense, or he can do his best Kawhi impersonation to muscle his way to points with impressive shot-making chops.
