3 examples of potential 76ers blockbuster trades
Potential 76ers blockbuster trade for Jae Crowder
It’s difficult to get three teams on the same page about a trade like this. With so many conflicting interests and agendas, it would be far-fetched to suggest a trade of this nature is “probable.” That said, it does address a reported need for every team.
The Hawks have been trying to trade John Collins on some level for years now. Jae Crowder isn’t even with the team in Phoenix. For Philadelphia, this trade represents an upgrade to the second unit — another two-way wing who is battle-tested in the playoffs.
The Hawks are giving up the best player here, and thus they receive a first-round pick from Phoenix (let’s call it top-10 protected) and a second-round pick from Philly. The Sixers give up a couple second-round picks in total — plus Paul Reed, who is first-round value in my book — but they also shed the two-year salaries of Danuel House Jr. and Furkan Korkmaz, neither of whom are playing right now.
Atlanta gets a capable 3-and-D forward in Torrey Craig who can help fill the Collins-sized void in the frontcourt. Meanwhile, Landry Shamet and Furkan Korkmaz add much-needed shooting to the second unit. The Suns get Collins — a massive upgrade in their pursuit of relevance — as well as very promising young player in Reed. The Sixers swap three non-entities in the current rotation for Crowder and Aaron Holiday, a suitable fifth-string guard.
