Desmond Bane entered the NBA billed as a shooting specialist. Well, long gone are those days of supposed one-dimensionality — Bane can bully weaker defenders on drives to the rim, shoot comfortably off the dribble, deliver dimes out of the pick-and-roll, and defend multiple positions for good measure.
Dejounte Murray should maybe be on the point guard list next to Trae Young, but for the purposes of this exercise he cracks the two-guard list in the top five. An elite defensive playmaker and one of the NBA’s most prolific assisters, Murray has adjusted well to No. 2 status next to Young, scaling up and down depending on the personnel on the floor with him.
Anthony Edwards is starting to flash real superstar potential. He’s a monster athlete with strength and explosiveness in spades. He can absorb contact in the paint, or he can slice defenses apart with razor-sharp footwork and dynamic shot-making on the perimeter. And now, he’s starting to lean more into handling the ball and setting up the offense in Minnesota.
