3 potential P.J. Tucker trades: Charlotte Hornets

This second trade comes within the Eastern Conference, but it’s with a team with no playoff aspiration in the Charlotte Hornets. It would be in their best interest to trade the few veterans on their team and embrace the full-on tank for a top lottery pick.

There’s plenty for the Philadelphia 76ers to choose from. Terry Rozier is a solid scoring guard, but the 76ers have plenty of guard depth already. Mason Plumlee would be a solid backup center, but there’s a better player to target with Tucker’s contract.

That’s right, going after Kelly Oubre Jr. would be the best choice for the 76ers. Oubre is an athletic two-way wing who’s average a career-high 20.2 points per game. The only issue is his 3-point shooting, but that can be mitigated if he is a reserve versus a starter.

The Hornets get a good locker room veteran who can mentor their young team in Tucker. They get their own second round pick back in this rebuilding year. Then getting a young athletic prospect in Jaden Springer is a good return for the guy who’s in the last year of his deal.
