The Sixer Sense Podcast comes to you following a big win for the Philadelphia 76ers over the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-109. Joel Embiid continued his MVP-playing tear with 36 points and 18 rebounds, being a large contributor to the win, especially after the refs saved him from fouling out with an incredibly questionable overturned call (but we will take it). Harden and Maxey scored 28 and 23 points, respectively, and this team looks to be hitting their stride at just the right time. The Sixers are now riding a 6-game winning streak and are only 1 game back of the Boston Celtics for the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference. Is there enough time left for the 76ers to catch them?
Lucas Johnson, Christopher Kline, and Jonathan Geib then turn the conversation to the previous two games versus the Portland Trailblazers and Washington Wizards. In the Portland game, the 76ers had to overcome a 15-point halftime deficit, which unfortunately has become a habit as of late, to win on a game-winning fadeaway by who else, Joel Hans Embiid! Can the Sixers figure out why they are consistently starting slow and fix it before the playoffs?
The Washington Wizards game was never in question and honestly, it should not have been. The Philadelphia 76ers are a much better basketball team than the Wizards and it is encouraging to see that they did not play down to the competition of a fringe play-in team. Embiid had 34 points in 31 minutes and did not have to play in the 4th quarter.
Will Joel Embiid finally win his first NBA MVP award this season? This highly contested debate is how the group closes out the podcast. As of the writing of this article, Embiid has jumped Nikola Jokic as the betting favorite to win the NBA MVP! This should not come as a big surprise as the Nuggets are on a 4-game losing streak and Jokic has not played up to expectations. On the other hand, Embiid has averaged 35 points per game since the All-Star break, which is why the Philadelphia 76ers are on the verge of overtaking the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Standings. You will want to hear the guys takes on this topic!
