After missing Monday’s highly anticipated matchup against the Denver Nuggets, Joel Embiid and James Harden are expected back in the lineup for the Sixers matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

Philly opted to rest its star duo in Denver, who have been dealing with some nagging injuries, but looks to get back on track against a desperate Dallas Mavericks team that has floundered since trading for Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline, 8-13 since acquiring the star guard.

However, Dallas has a chance to make the postseason still, tied for the final play-in spot and a win against Philadelphia can go a long way.

Here are the odds for Wednesday’s showdown:

Mavericks vs. Sixers odds, spread and total

Mavericks vs. Sixers prediction and pick

Embiid got the night off on Monday to rest his calf injury, and Harden got the same for his Achilles ailment, but they should have an easy go on Wednesday against the hapless Mavericks defense.

Dallas is 23rd in defensive rating since acquiring Irving as the team traded its best defender Dorian Finney-Smith for the star guard. While the Mavs offense is operating at a high level, ninth in the league since getting Irving, the team will face an elite roster in the Sixers who have the MVP front runner in Embiid.

The Mavericks doesn’t have an answer for anything the Sixers have to offer, namely Embiid, who is leading the NBA in scoring this season. While it appears that Dallas has adopted the “out scoring” its opponent model, punting on defense and trying to lean on Irving and Luke Doncic’s offensive prowess, the Sixers offense is still better, third in points per 100 possessions in the same time that the Mavs have had Irving.

The Sixers may not be able to catch the Celtics for the Atlantic Division, and the No. 2 seed, but they are in great shape to win with margin on Wednesday night against a defense that can’t stop any offense, let alone the possible MVP this season.
