The Sixer Sense Podcast is back as The Philadelphia 76ers ended their 2022-23 regular season campaign. The Sixers closed their season with a game versus the Atlanta Hawks and then the Brooklyn Nets. Both games saw the regular starters sit, but the reserves were able to come out with victories in each game. First up, the Sixers beat a full-strength Hawks team in overtime. Jalen McDaniels and Georges Niang both scored 24 points and shot better than 50% in their increased roles as starters this game. House Jr. also proved a spark with 22 points off the bench.
Next up, the regular season finale where the Mac McClung-led Philadelphia 76ers beat the Nets 134-105. With a first-round playoff matchup looming between these teams, neither was encouraged to show the other too much and it was a reserves versus reserves game. McClung stepped up scoring 20 points on 8-17 shooting in 33 minutes with a +29 on-court +/-. Will McClung be on the Sixers roster next year? Can he hope to crack the deep guard rotation?
Lucas Johnson, Christopher Kline, and Jonathan Geib turn the conversation back to NBA Awards season. There are a number of awards on the docket of this podcast including Clutch Player of the Year, Most Improved Players, Sixth Man of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. A few of these awards, most notably Sixth Man and Rookie seem to have runaway definitive favorites at this point, but does the trio agree with the favorites or each other?
The group ends the podcast with the highly anticipated and heavily debated Most Value Player Award. Over the last few months, Jonathan and Lucas have rung the Joel Embiid bell with Chris holding firm in his Nikola Jokic stance. Has Chris come over to the light side with the regular season now over? Give the podcast a listen to find out!
