The Sixer Sense Podcast comes to you on the verge of the Philadelphia 76ers versus Boston Celtics Eastern Conference Semifinals series that starts tonight! The biggest factor in the outcome of this series is the health of the Sixers’ presumptive MVP, Joel Embiid. Doc Rivers mentioned over the weekend that Embiid is doubtful to play in Game 1 on Monday which is a huge blow to this team that seemed to be hitting its stride in the first round of the playoffs.

In Embiid’s absence, who needs to step up for this team? Can James Harden and Tyrese Maxey propel the team with strong guard play? Or will Paul Reed need to step up at the center position? Is there a possibility that we see Montrezl Harrell or Dwayne Dedmon getting minutes in this series? You will want to give the podcast a listen to see what the guys think on this topic!

Next up, Lucas Johnson, Christopher Kline, and Jonathan Geib discuss the key matchups they are looking at that may decide this series. The Celtics have great perimeter defense and strong guard play that will look to neutralize Harden and Maxey. On the Sixers’ side, they need to figure out how to minimize the offensive scoring prowess of both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

The conversation then shifts to a brief discussion of Sixers owner Josh Harris putting in a bid to purchase the Washington Commanders from Dan Snyder. Harris will now be the majority owner of three professional sports teams in addition to the Sixers and New Jersey Devils. Is Harris spreading himself too thin and do the Sixers have anything to worry about?
