The Sixer Sense Podcast is back and so is the NBA MVP award! Joel Embiid finally won his first MVP and is now the fifth Sixer to win the award, joining Wilt Chamberlain, Moses Malone, Julius Erving, and Allen Iverson. This is an incredible accomplishment and one well deserved after all the Sixers’ big man has been through not just in basketball but in life.

In other big news, the Sixers split their first two games of the Eastern Conference Semifinals series with the Boston Celtics. Heading into Game 1, no one outside of the Sixers’ locker room thought they could win as Embiid was going to miss the game due to his lingering knee sprain. Yet, James Harden knew what time it was and showed why he is a former league MVP. Harden reverted to being a score-first guard, putting up 45 points and sealing the game with his signature sidestep three-pointer over Celtics’ center, Al Horford.

Lucas Johnson, Christopher Kline, and Jonathan Geib turn the conversation to the utter disappointment of Game 2. Game 1 felt like such a high which only made Game 2 hurt that much more. Embiid had just been crowned MVP, he was returning from his knee injury earlier than most expected, and the momentum felt to be completely in the Sixers’ favor. Then, the Celtics handed the Sixers their worst playoff loss in franchise history 121-87. What adjustments does the team need to make for Game 3 as they return home?

The podcast ends with a discussion about the other three Conference Semifinals series taking place. The Miami Heat and New York Knicks are tied 1-1. The Denver Nuggets have been proving why they are the number 1 seed in the West beating the Phoenix Suns in the first two games. And the Los Angeles Lakers, behind a dominant performance from Anthony Davis, stole a game in Golden State. Who will come out on top in each of these series? Give us a listen to find out!
