The Philadelphia 76ers easily handled their first-round opponent the Brooklyn Nets and lost the best of 7 game series the Boston Celtics in the second round. Just like with the matchup against the Nets, the Sixers need to look at the Celtics’ upcoming free agents.
No players with player options and team options won’t be on this list as a result. This will be the last of this series of this articles due to Philly falling short in the second round.
3 Celtics free agents to evaluate: Justin Champagnie
It wouldn’t be the first time in recent 76ers would have brothers on their team at different times. The most recent example with being Jrue Holiday and Justin Holiday putting on a Philadelphia uniform.
That being written, the Celtics signed Justin Champagnie, brother of former 76ers two-way player Julian Champagnie, at the end of the regular season to fill out their roster. He played two regular season games and a total of 23 minutes so not a lot to take from his time as a member of Boston’s roster.
Justin Champagnie has been a fringe NBA player with his other stop being with the Toronto Raptors. For his career, he’s averaged 2.2 points on 33.3 percent from the 3-point line. In terms of his, he won’t provide much for the Sixers if signed this offseason.
However, the 76ers are bound to see roster turnover, and adding cheap talent will be a must this off-season. A young athletic 6-foot-6 wing would be an interesting addition but in all reality signing him won’t improve the roster in any substantial way.
