3 Celtics free agents to evaluate: Grant Williams

Grant Williams is easily the best player on this list and at times, an important part of the Celtics rotations. Williams is a stocky 6-foot-6 forward who is a solid 3-and-D player and just happens to be a restricted free agent this summer.

Being a restricted free agent makes things even trickier for a cash-strapped Sixers trade due to the fact that Boston can match any deal another team can offer him. That being written, if the 76ers can clear some money maybe a sign-and-trade could occur despite Boston just beating Philly in the playoffs.

If that does occur, Philly will be getting a guy who can be a starter or elite reserve. Last season, he averaged a career 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. He also shot 39.5 percent from the 3-point line. He’s also a versatile defender who can guard small forwards, power forwards, and centers.

He could ideally take over P.J. Tucker’s role in the starting five as the heartbeat of the Sixers and the go-to defender for the club. He’d be an ideal addition in free agency but he’s an unlikely addition based on his status as a free agent and how much it would cost to add him.
