76ers: One Joel Embiid trade for every team ranked least to most likely: 17. Toronto Raptors
Similar to the Paul George deal, the Philadelphia 76ers would have no real use for Pascal Siakam in a trade like this. Sure, the tandem of Siakam and Tyrese Maxey would be interesting, but it’d have a very low ceiling.
Gary Trent Jr. is a fine player, but he’s not the type of guy the 76ers could build around. However, the Toronto Raptors likely wouldn’t want to include any of their other stars in the deal.
Toronto isn’t going to give up Scottie Barnes. They see him as their future. And while they could potentially look to give up OG Anunoby, that would strip them of too many pieces Embiid would need alongside him in order to contend. It would defeat the purpose of the trade.
The one saving grace in this deal is that the Raptors have more than one first-rounder to offer. Plus, one of the picks they could give up is a lottery pick in this year’s draft.
For the Raptors, getting Embiid would be an interesting proposition. Pairing him with Barnes could be intriguing, but they would absolutely be rushing things, as Embiid will be 30 by the time the postseason rolls around next year.
This still falls under the category of “not going to happen.”
