76ers: One Joel Embiid trade for every team ranked least to most likely: 29. Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets could throw in Jalen Green or Jabari Smith Jr. to this deal to spice things up, but that’s not the reason this trade is at the bottom of the list.
Sure, the Rockets could offer the Philadephia 76ers a bunch of picks. Sure, the 76ers might love the idea of adding Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green to the roster. But the whole reason Joel Embiid may request a trade in the first place is because of the Rockets.
In all likelihood, the only way Embiid asks for a trade is if James Harden leaves the 76ers this summer. And it’s looking like the only way that happens is if he decides to rejoin the Rockets.
So why would the Rockets trade for Embiid if Harden just ditched him? Needless to say, Embiid might not be the happiest camper.
There’s just no way that’s how things would play out, and it would make for a very awkward locker room.
Maybe there’s a chance Harden convinces Embiid to come with him to Houston, but that seems wildly far-fetched. Almost as far-fetched as this trade.
Simply put, the Rockets are not trading for Embiid. No matter what. Sorry, Houston fans. But hey, at least Harden might be coming back to town.
