Sixers Podcast: Harden conflicted + Chris Paul speculation
The Sixer Sense Podcast returns as the James Harden free-agency conversation continues to heat up. As seen in the clip below from Shams Charania, Harden is reportedly “seriously torn” between the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers. Is this report to be taken as fact or is this another move by the Harden camp to pressure the Sixers into offering him a long-term deal?
Lucas Johnson and Jonathan Geib shift the conversation to the developing news that the Phoenix Suns are likely to waive Chris Paul this offseason. This would be the second headline move for a franchise that hired a new owner in Mat Ishbia this past February. It is being reported that Chris Paul would still like to remain in Phoenix and could sign a cheaper deal with the franchise in free agency, but it is worth discussing other options if this is not the result. Is there a realistic chance we could see Paul in a Philadelphia 76ers jersey next season? We know when Paul was leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Sixers were one of the final teams competing for his services.
The podcast closes out with a lively discussion about the 2023 NBA Finals. Since the last podcast, the Miami Heat beat the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 in Denver 111-108 to tie the NBA Finals at one apiece. The Nuggets were up 15 in Game 2 and entered the fourth quarter with an 8-point lead. On top of that, Nikola Jokic scored 41 points but only registered 4 assists. Remarkably, when Jokic has scored 40+ in this postseason, three times so far, the Nuggets are 0-3! Can the Nuggets go to Miami and steal home-court advantage back or are the Heat a team of destiny this year? Give the podcast a listen to hear Lucas and Jonathan’s takes!
