Shake Milton – Toronto Raptors

After five years, Shake Milton’s days with the Philadelphia 76ers may be coming to an end soon. Per Kyle Neubeck of Philly Voice, Milton is the least likely of the 76ers’ key free agents to return as he looks for more minutes elsewhere. If Milton does explore new opportunities, one rival who could offer him a nice role from day one is the Toronto Raptors.

There are two major reasons why Milton would make sense for the Raptors. The first is their need for another guard, possibly. Fred VanVleet is among the top free agents in this class, and if he hits the road, there would be a major hole in Toronto’s backcourt. A player like Milton could slide in and have a key role. The second is their bench scoring, as Toronto ranked 29th in the league in second-unit points per game this past season, per NBA.com/stats. Milton could boost that number up a few ticks with his solid scoring ability, which he’s shown throughout his career.

Milton could be an interesting mid-level exception target for the Raptors to pursue if they lose out on re-signing VanVleet. At 26 years old, Milton is still fairly young and could become a captivating player if given legitimate minutes in the right situation. Toronto may be just the place for him.
