Grade the Trade: 76ers get Joel Embiid a brand new running mate
76ers get Embiid a new running mate in this trade proposal
In this proposed deal by Bleacher Report, the Philadelphia 76ers acquire All-Star guard Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls for veteran forward Tobias Harris, a 2029 first-round pick swap, and a 2030 first-rounder.
LaVine, one of the league’s most efficient scorers from the guard position in the last four years, has been stuck with a Bulls team currently slotted in NBA purgatory. Despite the considerable talent on paper, Chicago has been underwhelming for the large part and there have been rumblings recently about the front office feeling out the market for the two-time All-Star.
Meanwhile, it’s no secret that Philly has been actively trying to package Harris’ expiring mammoth deal this offseason with some suitors to his name. While letting his deal simply expire would also serve them well cap space-wise, trying to snag an immediate contributor like LaVine from a team on the cusp of a rebuild is more logical.
Zooming in, can this trade benefit the 76ers?
