Sixers Podcast: Sixers halt Harden trade + Mock NBA Expansion Draft
The Sixer Sense Podcast is back with some actual James Harden news! Over the weekend, the Sixers’ front office, including Daryl Morey, reportedly decided to remove Harden from the trading block with the intention to bring him back to the team for training camp and the upcoming season. It did not take long for reports to surface from Harden’s camp in response that he would not report to camp at all or play for the Sixers this upcoming season.
Following the recording of this podcast, even more of a statement was made by Harden himself.
Lucas Johnson and Jonathan Geib discuss the move by the Sixers to halt trade discussions. Is this the right move by the team? And is Harden making the right move by refusing to return under any circumstances? This standoff became more dramatic in the last couple of days and who knows what the next couple will hold. One question to consider though, is if this saga will impact Joel Embiid’s future with the Sixers.
Next up, the guys discuss Dwyane Wade’s Hall of Fame speech and the praise he lauded upon Allen Iverson. Many Sixers fans and players felt Iverson’s impact, but it is clear that his influence was felt well beyond the city of Philadelphia.
The podcast ends with a fun switch-up! Lucas and Jonathan perform a mock NBA Expansion Draft for two potential future franchises: the Seattle Super Sonics (long-awaited) and the Las Vegas Renegades. Obviously, neither of these franchises is a current NBA team, however, it is worth noting that expansion teams will likely become a reality in the somewhat near future. Lucas outlines the expansion draft rules as well as protected player limits and then he and Jonathan build out two teams with the available players. Which expansion team do you think would have a brighter future? Give the podcast a listen below and let us know your thoughts!
