5. PG Stephen Curry, Warriors
The Warriors struggled so much without Stephen Curry on the court last season, that they traded for future Hall of Famer Chris Paul to help offset that problem this year. Curry is the best 3-point shooter in NBA history and arguably one of the best point guards in the history of the game. Curry and the Warriors shouldn’t be slept on this season.
4. SF Jayson Tatum, Celtics
The only thing missing from Jayson Tatum’s game is high-level playmaking. That being written, Tatum is currently the best small forward in the NBA and one of the more unstoppable scorers with his size and strength. If he’s in his grove, the Celtics are going to be hard to stop.
3. PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks just became an offensive juggernaut with the addition of Lillard this offseason. With Lillard, Antetokounmpo will have to show how well he can play without the ball this season. That being written, the “Greek Freak” is arguably the most physically dominant power forward in NBA history and still a top-3 player in the NBA.
2. C Joel Embiid, 76ers
With uncertainly surrounding Harden, Embiid will have to carry the Philadelphia 76ers even more so than he did last season when he won the MVP. He’s led the league in scoring the past two seasons and there’s no reason to believe he won’t continue his scoring dominance. The only questions surrounding Embiid are how long will he want to stay in Philly and whether can he be healthy for the playoffs.
1. C Nikola Jokic, Nuggets
Not only did Nikola Jokic lead the Nuggets to an NBA championship, but he was also the best player in the playoffs during that run which was proven when he won the Finals MVP. His defense is clearly good enough to not be a liability in the postseason and his offensive game is the most complete in the NBA.
