The James Harden saga may have finally concluded, but Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey may not be immune from catching strays here and there just yet due to the ugly imprint it left not only on the franchise, but in the general consciousness.

Morey has long been one of the more fraternal executives in the NBA, having forged a slew of well-documented ties with numerous players, but his strife with Harden has apparently stained that complexion, with one of the bigger names in the league in the past even slamming him just recently with his vicious remarks.

NBA Star slams 76ers president Daryl Morey with recent vicious remark

Ex-NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas isn’t one to shy away from dishing out his sizzling takes, and he made sure to fire one on Morey’s way with his comment on his podcast, Gil’s Arena.

"It seemed like the Sixers were better when Elton Brand was the face [of the team]. He understood basketball. What are [Daryl] Morey’s credentials? He’s an Instagram guy, not a reality guy."

Ironically, Elton Brand is actually the 76ers’ general manager with Morey overseeing basketball operations, so this comes off as quite ignorant on Arenas’ part. That being said, it’s quite easy to see why he said that given the augmented attention on Morey in the thick of the Harden conundrum.

Still, aside from that oversight, that Arenas seemed to imply that Morey lacks the credentials to capably manage and operate an NBA team is simply far from the truth. After all, he’s been synonymous to the rise of analytic-based approach in the league and continues to be a trendsetter in the league.

Alas, he spearheaded the creation of legitimate championship contenders in Houston, and he’s not too far from paving the way for Philadelphia to have one as well, if the franchise don’t have that already.

We’re not too certain on what he means by being an Instagram guy, but going by the probable connotation, it’s laughable to liken such a data-driven individual to a person who merely cares about the optics.

Nonetheless, Daryl Morey may have faced a giant hurdle in his career as an executive, but he, Elton Brand, and the entire Philadelphia 76ers front office has set the franchise up quite nicely, rebounding astonishingly well from such a dramatic fall-off with one of their now-former stars.
