Grade the Trade: 76ers land former All-Star forward in this mock proposal
The 76ers land a former All-Star in this mock trade proposal
In this trade proposal from Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, the Philadelphia 76ers acquire former All-Star forward Gordon Hayward from the Charlotte Hornets for veteran forwards Nicolas Batum and Marcus Morris Sr., guard Jaden Springer, and a future 2026 first-rounder.
Hayward is in the final year of the puzzling four-year, $120 million deal he managed to get from Charlotte in 2020, so it is far from surprising for the Hornets to be disposed at the idea of trading him. With Brandon Miller also needing to have more minutes, they are also simply unlikely to re-sign him.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia received four rotation-caliber players in the Harden trade in addition to significant draft compensation. However, the 76ers would be wise to consolidate those assets to clarify roles while netting the team some more help to foolproof them for what is expected to be a bloodbath in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
Should Philly consider agreeing on this trade if ever proffered?
