Sixers Podcast: Recent game recaps + Around the NBA
The Sixer Sense Podcast returns from a brief hiatus and jumps right into a discussion regarding their recent games and what stood out. In their last 10 games, the Sixers are 6-4, including 1-2 in their last 3 games. The team seems to have cooled off a little from the early season hot start. Should there be any concern around the recent middle-of-the-pack play?
First up, the Sixers beat the Atlanta Hawks 126-116 in a game where Joel Embiid tallied a box score of 32 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. He is truly an All-around player and has taken his game to yet another level this year. Tobias Harris was very impressive putting up 29 points and knocking down 3 of his 5 three-pointers. If Harris can keep this production up, he will add a new dimension to this roster.
Following the Hawks, the Sixers manhandled the Brooklyn Nets en route to a 121-99 win. It was never in doubt and the starters looked good. The Sixers may have used up all their good play against the Nets because they suffered a 122-199 overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs were without their superstar, Donovan Mitchell, and it took a herculean second-half effort to even force OT. What was the reason for the sluggish start?
On the second night of a back-to-back, Joel Embiid sat out his first game of the year against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It would have been great to see Embiid play as the Timberwolves are currently the top seed in a deep Western Conference. This should have been a litmus test for this team, unfortunately with Embiid out the Sixers took another loss.
The last game on the agenda was a home victory over the up-and-coming Oklahoma City Thunder. Joel Embiid showed the rest was beneficial and down the stretch, the Sixers were able to hold on with a flurry of points in the fourth quarter by OKC. Is this just one win or are the Sixers back on track now?
