As usual, the Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to bolster the front court this offseason. While the team has had a lot more contributors therein this season, more than half of the players on the roster will be hitting free agency this summer. As a result, it is incumbent upon the front office to start scouting the market for potential additions.

One name which will be available for taking will actually surprise many among the 76ers faithful –– Guerschon Yabusele. After spending the previous campaign in Philly before exiting in free agency, the Frenchman will once again be hitting the open market this year. Actually, that fact alone is obscure to many. After all, many glossed over the fact that he had to decline his player option for next season to allow the Knicks to trade him to the Bulls at the deadline.

Yabusele has made it pretty clear that staying in the NBA will be his topmost priority, rejecting the idea that he is definitively headed back to Europe after this season. And given the way he performed during his brief stint in Chicago, he might have just secured his future in the league, albeit as a bench piece. Heck, even the 76ers could be enticed to go after him once more.

The 76ers could target Guerschon Yabusele once more in free agency

Among their front court players, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond, Trendon Watford, and Dominick Barlow are going to be or could potentially become free agents this summer. Those are four, solid rotation-caliber players whom the 76ers could see exit in the open market. Hence, it is imperative that the front office starts to monitor players who can replace some of those names.

Yabusele was highly impressive for the 76ers last season, wearing numerous hats for a team that was decimated by the injury bug. Unfortunately for him, his stint with the Knicks ended up being a very forgettable one as he simply did not see eye to eye with head coach Mike Brown, culminating in him getting shipped away from the Big Apple and into the Windy City.

Fortunately, the versatile forward was able to redeem himself to a degree with the Bulls. In nearly 25 minutes per outing, Yabusele logged 10 points and 5.7 rebounds per outing. While those are not the flashiest of numbers, most noteworthy is the fact that he sort of reinvented himself in Chicago, hoisting up more threes than he ever has on a nightly basis. Yabusele made nearly two triples per contest for the Bulls, canning them at a 38.3 percent success rate.

The 76ers need more variance in their front court, and Yabusele certainly has enough shooting to be a stretch big man for them off the bench. Factor in his relative familiarity with the program, the team might just be staring at a spotless reunion as long as the price is right.
