The Philadelphia 76ers started the season piping hot from three-point range, but since then, they have cooled off. As of writing, they are now exactly 15th in the league in both makes and attempts per game while ranking 16th in three-point shooting percentage. Suffice to say that like in years past, it has not their best trait this season.
Fortunately for the 76ers, there is one name lurking in the shadows who can immediately come in and help fix their issue on that end in Malik Beasley. Now, the veteran has not yet been cleared by NBA and federal investigators to make his return to the league, but the moment he is given the go signal to come back, he will undoubtedly fetch a lot of interest around the association.
Naturally, Philly should aggressively pursue him in the open market. So far, there has not been any reports of teams showing strong interest in signing him when he becomes available, and Beasley seems to be staying put, contrary to recent rumors that he has come to agreement with a professional basketball team in Serbia for the 2025-26 circuit.
Malik Beasley will solve a key weakness for the 76ers
The 76ers have much better three-point shooters than the last couple of years, but they are still far from formidable from beyond the arc. Outside of Tyrese Maxey and Quentin Grimes, the team has had a complete shortage of high-volume three-point shooters, and that is something that can be abated by having Beasley around.
Last season, Beasley was only two made triples away from leading the NBA in total makes from rainbow country. Even better, he canned a blistering 41.6 percent of his three-point tries, reemerging as one of the most lethal spot-up shooters in the entire league.
Beasley also is at least serviceable on defense, making him someone the 76ers can trot out next to their litany of talented guards.
Also, given his current situation, he will most likely not cost a lot of money to sign for the rest of the season. A minimum deal should be enough to get the ball rolling, and he will definitely be gunning for a team that can give him the most ideal role.
Obviously, the 76ers fit that mold. They are loaded with talent, but they are held back by their relative lack of reliable three-point shooting, which makes them a perfect destination for Malik Beasley the moment he makes his comeback.
