Well, that is definitely something new.

Nearly everyone has the Philadelphia 76ers penciled in for a wildly temperamental campaign. That is probably doused with merit, though, especially with the franchise not really doing much to bolster their case for next season given that the roster largely looks the same, and they will remain dependent on a slew of walking question marks to save them from complete oblivion.

And of course, one of those question marks is hovering above and around Joel Embiid. If there is one thing that the struggles of last season proved, it is that he is still the best player on the team. The 76ers will go wherever the former Most Valuable Player takes them, and it is only him who can elevate the ceiling of this group.

That, however, is probably as dicey of a proposition as it can get. Embiid was in uniform for just 19 games last season, and he is also already on the wrong side of 30. The recipe for an uninterrupted decline is already there, and that will certainly put a cap on how much this team can achieve as currently constructed.

Heading into the next season, there is still a huge cloud on Embiid’s playing status. However, fans may not have to worry as much as expected after all.

76ers release new, exciting stills of Joel Embiid which they have never seen before

Just a few days after releasing an encouraging clip of the team practicing together, which includes a snippet of a presumably “healthier” Embiid who had no knee braces, the 76ers spoiled the fans once more with a handful of new stills.

Zoom in on Joel Embiid, who appears to be in great shape at this early juncture. He looks like he had lost some weight, which is certainly a welcome development to allow him to move more freely and without as much baggage, allowing for better injury prevention.

But more importantly, it feels like it has been a long time since Embiid has looked to be in playing shape this early. He has always been one to take a longer prepwork to get back into playing condition, but this time, things seem different.

Hopefully, this ends up being a great sign for the superstar’s availability and overall health for next season. After all, the 76ers will not be going anywhere if he does not look like his usual dominant self moving forward.
