Philadelphia 76ers fans must be ecstatic from deep within after what has recently unfolded with Ben SImmons, whose NBA career is suddenly hanging on the balance following his silent offseason. With just a few weeks before training camp opens, the former Sixer star remains without a home for next season, casting a huge cloud on his future in the league.

Reports have popped up as of late about the All-Star possibly sitting out the upcoming 2025-26 season and then some. Simmons is rumored to be even contemplating retiring early, presumably due to his waning physical condition after his myriad of injuries since he was still a part of the 76ers roster,

We have to admit that injuries have taken away some much from him — that is indubitable at this point. But having said that, not everything can be tossed up to his glaring injury issues, especially since he is still apparently clinging hard to a moot idea he should have already embraced.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, in a recent pod appearance with Bleacher Report, signaled that Simmons continues to express derision to the idea of being a minimum players, which he definitely is at the moment.

Former 76ers star Ben Simmons can’t seem to accept his new reality

Due to his numerous red flags, no team in the league would willingly hand Simmons even a considerable, medium-sized deal. And at this very juncture, where basically all teams have exhausted their spending power, Simmons will most likely not be able to command anything significantly more than the veteran’s minimum.

Being content with such a deal will be his best chance at finding himself being included in an NBA roster next season. Otherwise, he will only hurt his chances, especially since his most recent stint with the Clippers will not imbue much confidence for teams to take a flier on him.

Between his ceaseless back concerns and his subsisting lack of a three-point shot or really, a functional scoring game, he would be a tough sell for teams. And even if they do make a gambit for him, he is not exactly an easy player to integrate in lineups.

If Ben Simmons wants to remain in the NBA and get another shot at reclaiming his lost glory, he should come to terms with his current situation and adapt accordingly, lest he runs the risk of his market completely drying up to the point of no-return.
