Philadelphia Sixers fans have watched Tyrese Maxey blossom into a star, going from averaging eight points per game as a rookie to a career-high 26.3 points per game this past season. He's an important part of the direction the Sixers want to go in — a championship — and Maxey is happy to be along for the ride.

During what was a disappointing 2024-25 season, Maxey made it clear that he loves the organization and wants to be in Philadelphia as long as possible, doing whatever it takes to win. He was coming off an offseason where he signed a five-year extension, a testament to how the Sixers feel about him.

That hasn't changed. Philadelphia believes in Maxey. He's improved year-over-year, a trend fans want to see continue. Next season may be the most important for the organization since they drafted Maxey in 2020, and it could result in the guard helping to lead Philly beyond the second round — a territory they haven't been in since 2001.

Joel Embiid and Paul George are perhaps the two most important players on the roster (Embiid is certainly No. 1), but that's because of their health and the money they're making. The Sixers need both of them to be at their best to make a run in the East, at least Embiid, but that obvious observation shouldn't undermine what Maxey brings to the table.

Last season was tough for everyone involved, especially Maxey. He went from thinking that he'd be playing alongside two fellow stars to leading the team with Embiid and George sidelined for the majority of the season. He carried a lot of pressure on his shoulders, but what he dealt with will make him a better player and leader moving forward.

Through it all, Maxey didn't think about being anywhere else. He did what he could to help the Sixers' never-ending injury woes before his season ended due to a sprained finger.

Most fans out there might be reluctant to get their hopes up about next season, and that's understandable, considering what we all witnessed a few months ago. One thing you can count on, though, is Tyrese Maxey. There isn't anywhere else he'd rather be than Philly, and Philly feels the same way about him.
