The Philadelphia 76ers have entered a brand new era. A new era for the organization and for a lot of the players on the new-look Sixers. Obviously, their big-swing trade for Jaylen Brown was the first domino, but shortly after that, they managed to sign LeBron James in free agency. And Nick Nurse could be the key to making everything tick next season in Philly.

There are going to be a ton of egoes in town next year. A ton of new faces in a new place. A ton of massive personalities who will be forced to put their own personal agendas aside for the betterment of the team. That’s not an easy thing to do. And even though the players will have to do most of the hard work, it will be up to Nurse to manage them.

At the end of the day, Nurse needs to be able to learn about every player on his roster, ensure they all remain happy, and push them in the right direction – toward success.

Nick Nurse is crucial to smoothing out LeBron era

It’s not going to be easy for the Sixers to keep everything upbeat all the time. They’re going to lose games. They’re going to deal with some ups and downs throughout the course of the season.

James is coming in having been the best player on his team for years and years and years. Obviously, playing with Luka Doncic made him take a backburner, but still, he’s always been the face of the franchise.

He’ll still be that in Philly to some degree, but there are going to be a ton of stars in town, all worthy of the almighty spotlight. Most of them could be true No. 1s.

Then, there’s Brown. Fresh off a season during which he was the best player on one of the best teams in the NBA. A season that he deemed the favorite of his career.

But now, he’s going to be joining a 76ers team that has more star power than he’s ever played with in his NBA career. At least, on a single team.

Obviously, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are also massive stars who will want their touches. Same with VJ Edgecombe, who will be entering his sophomore season after an impressive rookie campaign.

All of those guys will have to do a good job regulating themselves, but Nurse will have to manage it all behind the scenes. At the end of the day, he’s going to be the one running the show.

Nurse’s input will be what helps the 76ers get through next season in one piece.
