The Philadelphia 76ers are going to be hoarded with a lot of questions in the coming offseason. As of writing, half of their roster from this season will be hitting the open market. One of those players is Jabari Walker, whom the team inked to a standard NBA contract midway through the season after starting the campaign as a two-way addition.

Unfortunately, with Walker’s deal only guaranteed for $250,000 for next season, he seems to be at danger of losing his spot on the roster. The 76ers have a pretty imbalanced roster at the moment, and with the front office in dire need of reinforcing the team in the backcourt, Walker looks like he is going to be the odd man out for the 76ers.

Walker was actually a frequent customer for the 76ers in this campaign, having suited up in 64 games for the team during the regular season. That being said, he averaged just 11.9 minutes per outing. His meager playing time on the average is ultimately telling of his limitations as a player, and those are bound to end up being the reasons why he is vulnerable this offseason.

The 76ers could easily move on from Jabari Walker this summer

The 76ers primarily liked Walker’s activity on the defensive end and his aggressive rebounding, but he is far too limited on offense that his role will always be capped as a specialist. While that is not a bad thing to possess for someone who projects to be a depth piece either way, given his precarious contract situation, he is likely to be at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to the deciding who makes it to the final roster.

Walker has some presence from beyond the arc, but a 33.7 percent conversion rate from three-point range is simply not going to cut it. His shooting clip from rainbow country for his career is even lower, so the odds of him improving his long-ange shot are no exactly inspiring, to say the least.

The 76ers badly need to balance out their roster. They have way too many players right now in the frontcourt who bring the same skill sets and size to the table, which makes it incumbent upon the front office to trim the fat and focus on bolstering their backcourt position, which has gotten thin after dealing Jared McCain away.

As such, it is probably not a reach to say that Walker’s days in Philly are numbered. Hopefully, he can still plead his case, but at the moment, there is now way he is going to be high on their priority list.
