There’s a non-zero chance this happens.

The Philadelphia 76ers have every pathway available for them to make a grand comeback in the postseason next year, but realistically speaking, they are still a difficult team to pencil in as a ball club that will undoubtedly make a deep playoff run.

The 76ers roster remains flawed in some critical areas, and their abundance of talent may not be enough to make up for it when teams start to heavily game-plan against them. Atop their list of question marks next season is their current forward rotation, which is led by a huge unknown with Paul George.

As a result, should the All-Star turn in another dud of a season, the 76ers will have to move on from him. And what better way to switch things up than going after someone like, say LeBron James? Well, as unrealistic as it may sound, the 76ers could be a landing spot for him if he becomes available, that is if he is even put up for taking in the trade market.

Recent signs, however, point to that having a strong possibility, and Philadelphia should now dare to dream.

LeBron James trade saga takes a clear turn as 76ers dare to dream

According to Lakers insider and reporter Jovan Buha, the megastar’s relationship with his current team leaves a lot to be desired — a culmination of his camp’s decision to forego free agency and opt into his deal to take a more decisive look at his future with the franchise and in the league.

“I wanna be careful with what I say about like Bron’s relationship with the front office or the organization, but I don’t think it’s in like the best place right now to be completely honest. There’s been no official statement about LeBron opting in. There typically is, especially for a player of that magnitude.

“And then he’s had his stuff on social media or whatever he’s posted and there was obviously the statement when he opted in. So I don’t think things are in the best place they’ve ever been. I’ll just say that.”

This is typically what transpires when James starts picking his next destination. He did it in Miami and Cleveland, and is most definitely angling to veer toward that path in Los Angeles.

With just little time remaining on his phenomenal career, James will prioritize winning a championship, and while the 76ers are coming off their worst season in almost a decade, Philly packs a lot of punch for him as a landing spot should he go full throttle on his perceivably inevitable trade request.

First off, LeBron nearly joined the 76ers in the summer of 2018 before deciding to head to Los Angeles to play for the Lakers. There is enough allure for Philadelphia to be reckoned as a big threat to snag him away, even if the team’s outlook remains a mystery at this juncture.

Even better, James will be a perfect fit in Philadelphia, whose abundance of talent makes for a lot of lineup variation and possibilities. Really, this is only a matter of is camp actually pressuring the Lakers into a trade which, in such a case, should — and probably would — prompt a king-sized expedition from the 76ers.
