Barring any setbacks, LeBron James is close to making his debut for the Philadelphia 76ers this preseason, which will mark his 24th year in the league. However, it appears that the superstar does not exactly have an immaculate bill of health, as it has recently been reported that he is still suffering from a couple of nagging injuries that started even before he made the decision to play for the franchise.

As reported by ESPN's Dave McMenamin, James is still dealing with chronic arthritis in his left foot and sciatica in his lower back, which caused him to miss the first month of the previous campaign when he was still with the Lakers. He is said to be actively focusing on those areas in his daily ramp-up in training camp as part of his daily routine. While these ailments seem to be nothing new, they nevertheless stand as a possible obstacle to the team's title chase that will keep the team uneasy all season long.

LeBron James injury update could spell trouble for the 76ers later

James has never been the kind of star to constantly miss long durations due to injury given that he has never really suffered a major ailment in his career. However, that proposition has been shaken quite a bit in recent years as he has dealt with these pesky injuries with the Lakers.

LeBron is currently beating Father Time, but the latter seems to be putting up some fight as the superstar enters the waning years of his legendary career. To be fair, he is already 41 years old and is currently the oldest active player in the NBA.

For the 76ers, this news bit could spell trouble for them later if the injury bug decides to bite James at the worst possible time. LeBron, having invested so much in getting his body right, is surely already doing his part to prevent that from happening. Now, it is up to Philly's brain trust to ensure that the risk of him getting hampered by those nagging injuries is reduced to the utmost minimum.

Philadelphia is shooting for the championship, and James will obviously be a big part of their quest to accomplish that. Without him, they will not have the best closer the league has ever seen and an elite playmaker who can unlock their offense. As such, the 76ers have to do their part to manage him well all year long, lest the proverbial injury bug –– infamously obsessed with the franchise –– will flirt with the superstar all year long.
