Far from unprecedented.

A few days from now, the Philadelphia 76ers will finally commence their long-awaited campaign in the regular season. A steep challenge stands in their way right from the get-go, but they cannot just gloss over what transpired in training camp. In fact, during their preseason finale against the Celtics, they were haunted by one of their most predictable issues, which is their spotty shooting from beyond the arc.

Despite their regulars getting the night off, Boston still beat Philly in a tight affair. Obviously, the result is not worth resting one's laurels on, but the 76ers immensely struggling from the three-point line –– draining just seven of their 38 attempts or 18.4 percent of their tries from rainbow country –– should especially get the attention of many.

The 76ers just got a harsh reminder of their three-point shooting woes

Philly easily had the best offseason out of all the teams in the league, but one concern which subsists with this roster is perimeter shooting. Armed with a blitzkrieg of star power and raw scoring talent, the 76ers would benefit greatly from having multiple knockdown shooters. Unfortunately, given their personnel, their presence from beyond the arc can still be a mixed bag at best.

It is encouraging to see the 76ers increase their volume from three-point territory in the preseason. After all, not being trigger-shy is the first step to solving their shooting woes. However, without draining them at a respectable rate, Philly can only be called as a group of inefficient shot-chuckers.

Three-point shooting is such a tremendous equalizer, which allows teams with inferior talent to hang with the more loaded ball clubs. At the same time, it is one of the biggest determinants of a team's collective floor.

The 76ers have a lofty ceiling, one that has the potential to even reach historic levels. However, if their outside shooting remains an unreliable part of their scoring repertoire as a team, they could end up being much more vulnerable than expected and, ultimately, a group that is less than the sum of its parts.

Hopefully, their shooting display from their preseason finale ends up becoming more of an aberration than the norm for the 76ers this season. This team has an overwhelming amount of talent, but a failure to get past their shooting woes will set them up for a complete disappointment later down the road.
