Why Philadelphia should trade for Tari Eason

Without Paul George — and really, even with him healthy — the 76ers are rather thin and shallow at power forward. With only Guerschon Yabusele as their natural four on the roster, it could be a tough proposition to expect the makeshift PFs on the roster to last an entire season unscathed and ready to go for the playoffs.

Tari Eason, a tru and blue power forward, is a near-perfect player to target for the 76ers in a trade. He is undeniably Houston’s best on-ball defender, but his current team’s stacked cast of young players has prevented him from truly sniffing the court as much as he deserves to.

Of course, Eason is not a perfect prospect. He is injury-prone, lacks consistent utility as an off-ball threat offensively, and doesn’t really tout a modicum of playmaking to his game. However, the 76ers don’t really need a sap sipper on offense. Eason is perfect for the 76ers because the team has the platform to make him shine in the less glamorous areas of the game.

Also, trading for Eason would instantly give Philly another solid building block for the future without foregoing the ability to contribute in the present. He is both a win-now and build-for-tomorrow asset who can shine even more in the brighter lights of Philadelphia.
