76ers are on the verge of self-destructing thanks to rumored switch-up

Alright, 76ers. What are we doing here?

The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season as they snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Cavaliers, which currently have the best record in the entire association. Having said that, not a lot of people will really bat an eye on it given how bad the team has been for the most part.

Even a mini winning streak would not be adequate to quell the fact that the 76ers badly need to make some changes in the way they do things, be it in their personnel or in their brass of decision-makers. The franchise still has ample time to rectify things and get back to contention, but we would be disingenuous not to admit that it would be much more difficult this time around to correct the boat.

If this unprecedented freefall continues, Philadelphia will most likely not hesitate to make a big change or two, especially during the offseason. The franchise will never be content with sitting idly while their cards are falling down in their faces. That is just the modus it has taken in recent memory.

The 76ers could be on their way to self-destructing if they replace Daryl Morey with Bob Myers

With the 76ers putting on a poor display this season, some are already predicting that the franchise could move on from their top decision-maker. According to longtime insider Bill Simmons, former top executive Bob Myers is already lurking around for his next NBA gig and Simmons is saying that there is legitimate buzz about Myers taking Daryl Morey’s spot.

Philadelphia could very well find a “fall guy” to shove away from the front office, and there is certainly a considerable shot of that person being Morey. Of course, he was the one who put this team together, and so far, it clearly has not worked.

Unfortunately, Myers is far from the best replacement for Morey if the 76ers indeed go that route. Aside from his kismut-like drafting prowess in Golden State, the longtime executive famously blundered a lot in his late years in Golden State. In fact, the debris from his puzzling moves before he stepped down remain felt by the Warriors.

No one would crucify the Philadelphia 76ers if they toy with the idea of moving on from Daryl Morey, but entertaining the thought of having Bob Myers succeed him would be a pretty counterintuitive move. If that is the case, they would be much better off sticking with their own star-hunter.
